These 4 books can help boost your finances and improve your economic worldview. They are timeless masterpieces that can be reread over and over again, repeatedly teaching you new things. As your perspective on life changes, you will continuously learn new things from these books. I would suggest highlighting and underlining the lessons that you learn, so that you can skim through them weeks, or years later. It is a great way to revisit the powerful messages found in these books and draw out the lessons you have learned.
A lot of studies recommend that you read a new book each week, but I believe in a different philosophy. I believe that is isnt the quantity of books you read, but the quality. It is also important to implement what you learn in these quality, in order to truly succeed. You have to take what you learn, and turn it into action.
Book 1: The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J. Stanley
The Millionaire Mind is by far the greatest finance book of all time. I know that there are many great finance books out by authors such as Robert Kiyosaki or Dave Ramsey, but I don’t think anything compares to what you will learn from The Millionaire Mind.
The author of this book is a Professor from Georgia State University, who wrote the book based on his research on millionaires. Thomas J. Stanley interviewed hundreds of millionaires and created a system based on his results. I recommend you read this book and underline all of the lessons you learn, because you can go back to it years later and gain new insight.
Book 2: Getting Things Done by David Allen
If you have seen my YouTube videos, you have probably heard me mention Getting Things Done before. This is my secret weapon to getting so much done every day. People often wonder how successful individuals, can achieve so much in a day, all while still having time for a private life. I have four small children aged 9 months, 3, 5, and 7, so I know all about the struggle of balance of work and family. This book has taught me how to utilize my time in the most productive way so that I can make free videos, write blogs, mentor students, and still have time to go fishing, surfing, or spend time with my family.
David Allen has created a genius system for managing all of your responsibilities in a timely matter. He actually discovered this system by studying successful CEOS and Industry leaders, and finding that they get just as frazzled as everyone else. They have a large list of to-dos that they need to accomplish, and David invented a way to manage it all.
This book is almost as sacred as the Bible, because it is so full of powerful and useful information. I reread it multiple times every year, because I am continuously on a mission to master what David teaches. If you haven’t read this book I suggest you download or purchase the latest version and welcome a whole new insight to productivity. If you have read this book before, there is a newer version available with brand new lessons, that I suggest checking out.
Book 3: Boundaries by Henry Cloud
Most of you reading this list, have probably never heard of this book before. If Book 2 is to teach you HOW to get everything done, then Book 3 Boundaries will help you to set boundaries and prioritize what you get done.
After reading just the introduction of this book, I believe you will be hooked, because it will be describing your life and the craziness of trying to juggle everything. It a simply wonderful book and a necessary read to get full use out of the system in Getting Things Done.
Book 2 will not teach you what to do first, second or third. You need to read Boundaries in conjunction with Getting Things Done because they work together to help you become a more productive person.
Every single individual has the same 24 hours in each day. It is the great equalizer between both successful and unsuccessful people. The true difference between successful and unsuccessful people is how they spend those 24 hours. Successful people are constantly looking for ways to be as productive with their time.
